From the moment Mario Catalán stepped onto the mats for his very first Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class in 2020, he discovered a passion that would quickly become a defining part of his life. What began as curiosity soon evolved into a deep commitment to the art, driven by discipline, consistency, and a genuine love for the learning process.

Over the past six years, Mario has dedicated himself to developing both as an athlete and as a mentor. As he progressed in his journey, he found a strong calling for teaching—believing that sharing knowledge not only helps others grow, but also sharpens his own understanding. His approach to coaching is rooted in humility, continuous improvement, and the idea that success is built together on and off the mats.

Mario is an active competitor who consistently tests his skills in real match environments. His competitive mindset reflects resilience and growth—celebrating victories while embracing challenges as opportunities to learn and evolve. His achievements include becoming the ADCC Orlando Open Intermediate Champion in 2024 and earning the NewBreed World Champion title, ranked #1 in his division the same year. In addition, he has secured multiple podium finishes across local Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournaments, demonstrating his consistency and dedication to excellence.

As a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Coach, Mario plays an active role in developing students at all levels. He teaches fundamental techniques, assists in drilling and live training, and helps prepare athletes for competition. His leadership style is hands-on and example-driven, encouraging discipline, focus, and a strong mindset in every student he works with.

Mario currently holds the rank of Blue Belt under Sanctum Jiu-Jitsu Academy, where he continues to refine his technical grappling, submission strategies, and overall performance. His skill set includes competition preparation, mindset coaching, youth instruction, and physical conditioning—making him a well-rounded coach committed to building confident, disciplined athletes.
